Shoshone County, Idaho

Formed under the Territory of Washington in the year 1861, the county was officially established in 1864. Shoshone County Idaho was named after the Native American Shoshone Tribe. Records from 2022 reveal that the county has a land area of 2,637.43 square miles and a population of 13,399 people. The county seat is Wallace City. Shoshone County is home to a District Court and a Magistrate Court.

The Shoshone County District Court exercises jurisdiction over all kinds of legal proceedings, including criminal and civil actions. This Court handles felony cases, as well as general civil claims with a value of $10,000 or more. In addition, the Court is responsible for judicial review of any proceeding involving the Shoshone County Commissioners. Other cases handled by this court include divorce, adoption, juvenile matters, probate, guardianships, conservatorships, termination of parental rights, and civil cases involving not more than $10,000.
