	About/Additional Info:	Augusta Correctional Center is a close custody prison located in Craigsville Virginia that opened in 1986. It has the capacity to house 1,222 level 3 security, adult male offenders who have been sentenced to life and multiple life sentences. Offenders in a close custody facility have a large amount of restriction and are confined to their cells for most of the day. Inmates at this facility need to have served at least twenty years of their sentence, or have less than 40 years remaining to their release date. Offenders located at this facility can only be transferred out to a less secure facility if they have had no disciplinary/behavioral issues for at least 2 years. Inmates at Augusta Correctional Center are provided necessary medical, dental and mental health treatment. This facility participates in the Virginia Correctional Enterprise program and employs inmates in a clothing and shoe industrial operation that manufactures all the shoes and inmate clothing worn by inmates throughout the state. Vocational training for inmates is available in roofing/siding, custodial maintenance, and business software. The facility is comprised of six housing buildings, each with four pods for a total of 24 pods. Additionally, Augusta Correctional Center has two units designated as mental health segregation. The vocational building at Augusta contain a gymnasium, the Chaplain's office, a law library and a general library.
