The Pueblo District Court is the county's trial court, with general jurisdiction over all civil and criminal cases. This court focuses on civil actions involving amounts above $25,000, felonies, juvenile matters, mental health cases, family law, and probate matters. The County Court, due to its limited jurisdiction, handles preliminary hearings for all criminal charges, misdemeanors, civil claims of up to $25,000, small claims in which the amount in dispute is limited to $7,500, traffic cases, and protection orders. The Pueblo Municipal Court deals with violations of city laws committed within city limits.
