Hamilton County is located in the State of Indiana. The county has an estimated total area of 402 square miles and a population of 349,527. Among the eight cities/towns in the county, the City of Noblesville serves as the county seat. The Hamilton County judicial system is entrusted to resolve legal disputes, including civil and criminal matters. The court system comprises the Circuit Court, Superior Courts, and City and Town Courts.

Hamilton County Courts are located in the City of Noblesville. The Circuit Court serves the county as a trial court of general jurisdiction. The Court has original and concurrent jurisdiction (with the Superior Court) in civil and criminal cases in the county. Additionally, it handles appeals of cases originating at the City and Town Courts. Hamilton County operates six Superior Courts that also exercise general jurisdiction over civil and criminal matters. These courts are divided into different Divisions that handle various cases, including misdemeanors, felonies, traffic violations, civil actions, and small claims matters. Lastly, City and Town Courts in Hamilton County have exclusive jurisdiction over cases involving the violation of town/city ordinances. In 2023, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office made 1,354 arrests from reported crimes, with a violent crime rate of 10.3 and a property crime rate of 24.8. Data from the Indiana Office of Court Services indicated that Hamilton County's Circuit Court handled 604 criminal cases in 2022 and finalized 369 cases. The court also handled 2,103 civil cases during the year, with 1,055 civil dispositions. Additionally, the Circuit Court concluded 329 of the 649 juvenile cases it handled for the year. The Superior Courts collectively handled an estimated 30,000 cases in 2022, dealing with criminal, civil, and juvenile cases. These courts also disposed of approximately 19,400 cases in total. Likewise, Hamilton County's City and Town Courts collectively handled 15,627 cases concerning civil, criminal, and juvenile matters and finalized 11,376 cases. The Clerk's Office is the custodian of all records of cases that are heard at the Hamilton County Courts. Interested persons can obtain non-confidential court records online or request records from the Clerk's Office. However, individuals may require court orders to obtain confidential files like medical or mental health court records.

Hamilton County's court system resolves legal disputes promptly and fairly to ensure smooth governance and uphold justice within the county's boundaries.
