Saginaw County, Michigan
Saginaw County contains 3 cities, 27 townships and 6 incorporated villages. It was created on September 10, 1822, and was fully organized on February 9, 1835. It is in the 5th largest metropolitan area in Michigan. It has a population of 189,821 and Saginaw is its largest city. The city of Saginaw is its county seat and the county spans 816 square miles. The process by which disputes are handled and settled are carried out by 2 Circuit Courts, a District Court, and a Probate Court. The courts relentlessly to proffer permanent solutions to all court cases and refer offenders to treatment courts and programs. Futhermore, a concurrent jurisdiction plan is established in Saginaw County, and it allows any judge in Saginaw County to handle all types of cases that may come before them.
The 10th Circuit Court in Saginaw County handles felony cases and civil cases in which the amount of money in dispute is $25,000 or more. The Circuit Court is a court of appeals for the Probate and District Courts. The Juvenile and Family Court of the Circuit Court hears family law proceedings such as divorce cases, juvenile proceedings such as delinquency and dependency, protection proceedings, adoptions, emancipation of minors, and juvenile guardianships for under-18. The Family and Juvenile Division houses the Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center. The 70th District Court decides cases that involve criminal (it holds trials and arraignments), civil (limited and unlimited), small claims, and traffic violation matters. The Probate Court has jurisdiction over conservatorships, trusts, administration of decedent's estates, and guardianships. All the courts are situated in Saginaw.
