Named after Enos Stutsman, Stutsman County, North Dakota, was created in 1843 from Buffalo and Pembina Counties. It has about 21,609 residents and a land area of 2,222 square miles. Its largest city and county seat is Jamestown. The county system in Stutsman County comprises District, Juvenile, and Municipal Courts. About / Additional Info: Southeast Judicial District consists of 14 counties. It was created in 1979 to include Barnes, Dickey, Eddy, Foster, LaMoure, Ransom, Richland, Sargent and Stutsman counties. In 1993, Wells County was transferred to this district from the South Central Judicial District. In 2000, Griggs County was transferred to this district from the Northeast Central Judicial District. In 2014, Kidder, Logan and McIntosh counties were transferred to this district from the South Central Judicial District. The Southeast Judicial District is part of Unit 2 which also includes the East Central District.

About / Additional Info: Jamestown Municipal Court is responsible for cases which include Class B misdemeanor offenses, infractions, non-criminal traffic offenses, and other non-criminal offenses. After a remodel in early 2019, the main entrance and lobby is now located on the 1st floor of the combined Law Enforcement Center and is situated next to the County Sheriff’s Office and City Police. The previous entrance on the east side of the Law Enforcement Center is no longer available.
