Located in the state of Wisconsin, Walworth County has an estimated population of over 105,100 residents. It is situated on 577 square miles of territory and has Elkhorn as its county seat. Two Trial Courts, the Circuit Court, and Municipal Court, constitute Walworth County's trial court system, including the rest of Wisconsin.

The Second Judicial District Circuit Court is the highest in Walworth County. It is located in Elkhorn and has original jurisdiction over all criminal and civil cases. However, cases under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Municipal Courts are exempt from its purview. The Circuit Court generally presides over all civil and criminal jury trials and hears criminal cases such as felonies, misdemeanors, and criminal traffic crimes. Typical civil cases that fall under Walworth County Circuit Court's jurisdiction include general civil cases and civil equity suits, probate cases, domestic relations such as divorce and child custody, and certain juvenile matters.
