Centrally located and founded on December 10, 1807, Laurens County was named after Colonel John Laurens. The county is home to the city of Dublin, its largest city and government seat. Laurens County has an estimated population of over 49,400 residents and is part of the 12th Congressional District. Its trial court system consists of a Superior Court, a Juvenile Court, a Probate Court, a Magistrate Court, and Municipal Courts.

Located in Dublin, the Superior Court has general jurisdiction over most civil and all criminal cases. This court handles felony criminal offenses and domestic relations matters such as divorce, child support, child custody, and domestic violence.
