Saint Louis County, Missouri

St. Louis County, located in the eastern-central part of the state, is the most populous county in Missouri. It is bordered by the Missouri River to the North, the City of St. Louis and the Mississippi River to the east, and the Meramec River to the South. The county is home to educational powerhouses like Washington University, Maryville University of Saint Louis, and Webster University. At least 999,700 people live in the county, of which 96.6% are citizens. The City of Clayton serves as the county seat, and the county's court system comprises a Circuit Court and Municipal Courts.

The St. Louis County Circuit Court is located in Clayton and handles a wide variety of legal matters. The court is divided into several specialized Divisions for administrative convenience. The St. Louis County Municipal Court is located in Clayton and is lower in hierarchy than the Circuit Court. It hears cases involving alleged violations of city ordinances. Apart from St. Louis County, per a contract agreement, the court also provides court services for Twin Oaks, Green Park Pasadena Hills, and the Village of Marlborough.

St. Louis County's crime rate currently stands at 35.78 per 1,000 residents. It is estimated that the St. Louis County Circuit Court processes over 120,000 cases annually. The office of the St. Louis County Clerk of the Circuit Court is vested with the mandate of keeping and providing access to court records in the county.
