Harrison County, Texas

Harrison County is located on the eastern border of Texas and has a population of approximately 69,000. Named after Joans Harrison and part of the 1st Congressional District the county's seat is Marshall, and its court system is organized to handle many legal matters involving criminal and civil cases to maintain justice and order. The regulation of law and order is facilitated through some important courts including District Courts, Constitutional Courts, County Courts at Law, Justice Courts, and Municipal Courts.

The Marshall-based District Court handles criminal and civil cases, including official misconduct, divorce, disputes over land or election, defamation, and slander. The District Court also handles civil cases involving personal injury, property damage, worker's compensation, tax disputes, eminent domain and condemnation, and motor vehicle cases. Municipal Courts have jurisdiction over criminal cases including municipal ordinance violations, and civil cases involving ownership of dangerous dogs.
