Permitted Uses

  • Academic & Legal Research Researchers, law students, and legal professionals may use docket data to study court outcomes, case patterns, legal precedents, or sentencing trends. CourtCaseFinder supports legitimate scholarly and analytical research grounded in publicly filed records.
  • Attorney & Legal Professional Use Licensed attorneys and legal professionals may use CourtCaseFinder to verify case status, review docket history, confirm filed documents, and conduct due diligence on behalf of clients involved in or affected by legal proceedings.

Prohibited Uses

  • Employment Screening & Hiring Decisions CourtCaseFinder is not a Consumer Reporting Agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You may not use it to evaluate anyone for employment, promotion, or job eligibility. Using court data as part of a hiring decision without complying with applicable background check laws is strictly prohibited.
  • Tenant or Housing Screening Using CourtCaseFinder data to assess a person's suitability for renting or leasing a property is explicitly prohibited. Tenant screening is governed by the FCRA and requires use of a compliant consumer reporting agency.
  • Credit, Loan & Insurance Eligibility You may not use our platform to evaluate someone's creditworthiness, set loan terms, or determine insurance eligibility. These are regulated activities under the FCRA that require proper consumer reporting channels.
  • Government Licensing or Benefits Determinations CourtCaseFinder data must not be used to decide whether an individual qualifies for government-issued licenses, public benefits, or similar entitlements.
  • Treating Docket Data as a Finding of Guilt A court docket entry reflects that a charge was filed, not that the subject is guilty. You may not use CourtCaseFinder data to draw conclusions about guilt, character, or conduct based on charges alone, particularly where cases were dismissed, resulted in acquittals, or were never prosecuted to conclusion.
  • Accessing or Attempting to Access Sealed, Expunged, or Juvenile Records Some court records are not available to the public, including sealed case files, expunged records, juvenile proceedings, and certain pretrial documents. Attempting to access, aggregate, or reconstruct information from records that courts have restricted from public disclosure is strictly prohibited.
  • Automated Scraping or Bulk Data Extraction Using bots, scripts, scrapers, or any automated tool to extract data from CourtCaseFinder in bulk, or to systematically query the platform beyond normal individual use, is expressly prohibited. This applies regardless of whether the underlying data is public.
  • Stalking, Harassment, or Unauthorized Investigation It is illegal to use CourtCaseFinder to stalk, intimidate, monitor, or conduct unauthorized investigations into private individuals, public officials, or any other person. Any use designed to harm, threaten, or harass a subject is grounds for immediate account termination and may result in legal action.
  • Publishing or Redistributing Records to Cause Harm You may not republish, redistribute, or publicly share docket data in a manner intended to damage a person's reputation, cause public shaming, or facilitate harm, particularly where charges were dropped or the individual was found not guilty.
  • Any Purpose That Violates Federal, State, or Local Law Using CourtCaseFinder in any manner that violates applicable law, regardless of whether it is listed here, may result in account termination, civil liability, and criminal consequences.

  • Docket Data Is Not a Finding of Fact or Liability Court docket entries reflect filings and procedural events, not verdicts or conclusions of law. CourtCaseFinder data should not be interpreted as evidence of guilt, wrongdoing, or legal liability on the part of any individual named in a case record.
  • Data Accuracy Is Not Guaranteed CourtCaseFinder compiles records from numerous public sources. We do not create, edit, or verify this information. Records may be outdated, incomplete, or contain errors. We make no guarantees of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any content on our platform.
  • Not a Consumer Reporting Agency CourtCaseFinder is not classified as a Consumer Reporting Agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Our data cannot be used for any FCRA-governed purpose, including credit, housing, or employment determinations.
  • Sealed, Expunged & Restricted Records CourtCaseFinder only provides access to records that are publicly available. Some records are sealed by court order, expunged by law, or otherwise restricted from public disclosure. The absence of a record on our platform does not confirm that no case history exists.
